Remove product tube from package. Holding tube with notched end pointing up and away from the face and body, cut off the narrow end at the notches with scissors. While holding your dog with one hand, use the other to apply the solution. Invert the tube, and use the narrow end to part your dog's hair while gently squeezing to apply to the dog's skin. Hold the dog for a few seconds to give the solution time to be absorbed into the dog's coat. When finished, wrap the tube in paper and put into the trash.
Apply one tube as a stripe, starting high on the back of the dog's neck and ending directly in front of the shoulder blades.

Very happy, 5/16/2013

GSDs4life from Florida

I'm on my 3rd month and am happy with the product. It's not greasy, the dogs do not mind the smell, and my house smells good. The first day the smell is very strong, but by day two its decreased. Its not an issue for me, though, because it's preferable to doggie odor. So far, we've not had any flea, tick, or other insect issues. However, I did spread some lime down in the yard when we first started the product. I plan to continue using lime as needed in conjunction with the spot on treatment. My guess is that people who rate the product poorly already have a bad flea infestation to begin with.

LOVED THE SMELL!, 10/21/2012

Natural Bo from Virginia

I love this product. If my dog has one flea he goes crazy, and he hasn't had any since using this product. I have used it 3 times so far. The smell is strong but very pleasant, like a strong fragrant candle. I would recommend putting it on your dog in the morning because if he sleeps with you it is a little overwhelming because it is strong, not because it smells bad. I love the cedar and peppermint smell; it makes my house smell good, and you can't beat the price.

Agree - Odor TERRIBLE, 7/8/2012

Bob Markwith from Cocoa FL

I read the reviews about the odor and said -- that's only somebody's opinion. But, the price was so irresistible that I ordered a years worth. Put the first dose on yesterday morning and it was awful. Locked the dog out of the bedroom -- he ALWAYS sleeps with me. He was heartbroken. It calmed down a bit today but still stinky. Finally washed the dog to get it off. Please, a couple of people said they liked the odor. Each of us has our own opinions. But, don't over-do it and try one package before you jump in with both feet.

My Favorite , 6/25/2012

AMY SCHMELZ from New Jersey

Great product. It seems to repel ticks and bugs, unlike other products which do nothing until the dog has been bitten.

Adjust dosage, 5/6/2012

AIMEE TIMMINS from Montgomery VIllage, MD

I8 have had to adjust the dosage to 1/4 the amount, as the natural aroma takes over the room, house... I will keep trying for a correct dosage.

Over powering, 7/29/2011

Labowner from Long Island, NY

The odor of this product was so over powering that no one in the house could stand it. We gave the dog 2 baths before she could come back into the house!

2 Paws Up, 7/7/2011

tina from Chicago IL

I used to use Skin So Soft for my dogs and cats. It worked great, but i am allergic to it. I tried Natural Defense last year and am applying it again this year. In addition to the non toxic formula, I like not having to buy separate size doses for my 12 pound and 45 pound dogs. The large dog is pure white and i have not noticed any discoloration of his coat as another reviewer commented. Its a great price, great defense for my dogs and cat and it does not cause me to have an allergic reaction. 2 paws up !

All natural product that works for my 6 dogs, 11/9/2009

Marie from Abington, Ma

I have 6 puppies all under 22 pounds. I used to use K-9 Advantix until one of them reacted to it badly (yes I used the right dose). I researched online and found this. Have been using it since 3/09 and only one of my dogs got one tick through the whole summer!! That's better than the toxic chemicals did. The smell is strong for the first 2-3 days but after that it is a nice clean smell in my house.

This stuff is awesome!, 7/25/2009

Desert Willow Aussie's from Rio Communities, New Mexico

We are so happy with this topical. It's all natural, and it works! I've used it on all our grown dogs (14+) and all our puppies at 7 weeks and we have no signs of fleas or tics AT ALL! For us it's worked great! Thanks for making a monthly deal, that is what is also so great about it, this truly does work for the entire month. The proof is on our dogs (or not) Thanks to you!

Love it!, 5/2/2009

Barbara Matthews from Hampstead, NC

Have tried other flea control products, of this same type, and like this one the best. The others have a bad smell and cause an irritating skin reaction on my little poodle. With this Sentry Natural, the smell is strong only for a couple of days, no skin irritations, and works great!!

Wrong flee control, 2/6/2009

trey vick from clearwater, fl

I think the dog and the cat tubes should be 2 differt colors, I have a large dog and I have (had) a small cat, I bought dog flee controll and cat flee control, I accidently put the dog flee control on the cat, and the cat started having seizers, and the vet hade to put her down

Great for the price, 2/1/2009

Mark from Galt, CA.

Actually works.. ignore the 1 star review, the product is for CATS AND KITTENS, not your dog. The scent can get a bit overbearing but after a few days it turns from pungent mint.. to a subtle almost vanilla scent. The kittens did not approve BUT they no longer have fleas so A+ in my book!

Natural Defense does NOT Work, 11/2/2008

Suzan from Lancaster PA

This product did not get rid of the fleas on my dog. It left an oily residue and stained their white coats yellow. Even after a bath, they are still stained yellow.

Works great for winter months, 2/4/2008

Brynn from Falls Church, VA

We started using this in October as an alternative to the toxic pesticides that require a vet prescription. Although we were at first shocked by the strong clove smell, it has since become an endearing scent since it means our dog is protected from fleas and ticks without harming his body with chemicals. We're waiting to see how it holds up as the temperatures warm up this spring, but for the fall and winter months, it has been great.

It works, 9/10/2007

Ann from NY

Its nontoxic and it works. It has a strong, minty, clove smell that not everyone will like, but it doesnt smell worse than pesticides and it doesnt cause cancer in you or your pets. Its effective when used as part of a program of flea control: Wash bedding weekly, treat areas where pets sleep and play with other nontoxic sprays, and if that doesnt work, use some pyrethrin or permethrin sparingly, keeping pets and kids away for at least 24 hrs. My dog had cancer, and I couldnt use the usual spot treatments any longer and shouldnt have before, they probably helped cause the cancer. I am so glad I found this. He had flea dermatitis very bad until I started to use it.

we love it !, 8/16/2007

marilyn from upstate, ny

We have 7 dogs, and have been using this for the past two months, and havent found a single tick in all that time. We dont normally have fleas, so I cant speak for that issue. The scent is awesome ! It makes the whole house smell great for a few days, and even better, it hasnt irritated their skin like some other products weve used. Its a little more expensive than the others, but well worth it. We highly recommend this !

I happen to love the scent..., 8/13/2007

Debbie from South Austin, Texas

I actually like how it smells and how my cats smell even weeks afterwards. I have noticed that my oldest cat doesnt react very well AT ALL to this one though, but my other two do just fine. I prefer this scent over the normal flea meds!

Great Stuff, 7/17/2007

Pauline from New Hampshire

I put some of the natural defense on my cat whose gray and it works great against fleas, mosquitos, etc. It does have a strong odor, but after a week, you cant smell it anymore. Price is a lot better than Advantage. Cat seems to have taken well to it. It has a lot of natural products which I like.

its a win-win, 4/26/2007

pam from new york, ny

its counterintuitive, putting toxic pesticides on Charlie once a month to protect him from pests, which have readily shown an ability to become hardier and resistant. though it is early in the season, this alternative has worked thus far, and i would rather use other naturalherbal remedies to do battle than further polluting my boy and the environment.

NO GOOD, 7/27/2006

Michele from Wilkes Barre,PA

In June, I began using the natural defense spot on drops on my dog. I was at first very impressed with the product; it did not make his coat greasy, had a wonderful aroma and seemed to be controlling fleas. I was very happy to have finally found a product that seemed to work and was also safe. Three weeks after his first application I applied the second dose since the product said that it lasts up to 4 weeks but could be reapplied every two. In addition, at that time I began using the natural defense spray on my cat. Within the following week and a half my dog had begun scratching and biting at himself, upon closer examination I confirmed he had started to become infested with fleas. I am very disappointed that this product does not stand up to the claims that it has made. Not only has my dog been subjected to this discomfort but also it has wasted my time and money for now I am stuck with products that do not standup to their claims. More so I then needed to purchase different products to eliminate the fleas, which is very costly and time consuming. I am very disappointed in this product and will not be using it in the future.
