I ordered this collar for one of my dogs last year, a standard Poodle mix. The choke chain he had been wearing was ruining the fur where it lay: wearing it down and matting it. He couldn’t stand synthetic fiber collars – they made him itch – so a leather collar was the only choice left. This rolled collar is perfect for him – does not damage his fur in the slightest, and he’s most comfortable wearing it. Now I’m ordering this Rolled Oak Leather Collar for my other dog – a young Yellow Lab/Basenji mix, since her choke chain interacts with her body chemistry and discolors her light colored fur to gray. It has also caused a “trench” to develop in the fat around her neck. I expect the new collar will suit her just fine, also. Leather collars, especially the rolled style, seem to be the best kind of collar for most dogs. They have been on the market forever – sometimes the simple old solutions are still superior to any new inventions.

This is made in america and it shows!!! Bought this as a night latch for my saddle instead of a 25$ one. So glad i did. It is great quality. Soft leather. the only down side is you are limited to punching more holes d/t the roled area. I would def get again if I ever need one.

I needed a leather collar for my coonhound because he loves to play in the mud and I wanted something easy to clean. I treated it with neatsfoot oil which softened, darkened and somewhat weatherproofed it. It looks great on my dog and the next time it gets dirty, I can just wipe it off with saddle soap.

These are "Forever Collars and Leashes" for your dogs. They get better with age and soften into the most wonderful, natural dressing for your dogs. Whether hunting or hanging at home, the collars and leashes are among the necessity list for each of my dogs when they get to their full growth/age. Each one I have had has been retired with each of my two previous dogs and drapes the corner of their pics. Hanging as soft as they did on the dogs, they present a warm reminder of the time spent together over so many years with the dogs that wore them day in and day out. I know, a little sappy, but just sharing my experience with a great product for any dog lover.
