Decent Cage for the money but not close to a Ferret Nation, 7/27/2016

jtp755 from

Coming from a long history of Ferret Nation cages for chins and ferrets we needed a cage that would fit a very specific space in our RV since we travel full-time. This cage fit the bill and the brand had been recommended along with Ferret Nation through the years. First...very disappointed in the quality/craftsmanship. Flimsy, bad welds, thin, etc. Second...Horrible design on the bottom slide-out grate (the bottom of the cage) where it meets the sides. Stuff (like bodily fluids) can get in the cracks and NEVER get cleaned out. Should seal this section! Third...the ramps. I like that they are metal but they do not stay in place due to how the connect to the ledges. Ferrets are ALWAYS knocking them off which is a pain. Outside of those 3 items it is a great cage.

Great for a puppy potty when ramps & shelves are removed!, 11/13/2015

Rain from Michigan

I bot this cage 4 my little chihuahua puppy who refuses to go outside in snow, wind, sleet or rain. She chews up the puppy pads when they are on the floor indoors, so this was my ingenious idea to give her a warm place to potty here in MI. She cant chew the puppy pad in this cage because there is a wire grate btwn the pad & the easy clean up pull out drawer. So she goes in her cage & does her business. Then I fold up the puppy pad & throw it away & put down another one for next time. I do have to pick up the solid stuff but I use gloves which double as a bag, then I tie & throw away. Any residual smell is taken care of by our ionic breeze machine that clears the air within 60 seconds. So this cage is perfect for our spoiled indoor MI. puppy. We removed the ramps & shelves out of this cage. Our puppy is scared to go down the 2 stairs by our back door, so I screwed in 2 round hooks to the stair, which the fasteners of the ramps go into & voila, we now have a puppy ramp down the stairs!

Great Cage, 3/29/2013

GrayLightNewDay from Lowell, MA

I just set up this cage today and it was fairly easy to set up, aside from putting the top on (that was the hardest part). I have four female rats, and this cage is the perfect size for them. I bought it mainly because of the price, but I really like that the shelves and ramps are solid. I would definitely reccomend this cage to anyone with 2 - 4 rats.

Great for rats, 2/13/2012

MJ from Illinois

I own ferrets and rats. I use this cage for my rats. It is excellent for them. The ramps, shelves and drop pan come out for easy cleaning. The door is hinged on the bottom, so when I open it, my ratties can climb on it to come to me. The floor wiring is a separate panel that can be removed for cleaning or if you want to use the drop tray as the floor. Two wishes: the door was a little bigger so it is easier to take items in and out; the legs and wheels were detachable so the cage could be placed on a table.

We like this cage!, 2/7/2012

JANE BOSSANY from Amery, WI

Our ferret is small and was able to get out of our first cage with 1" wire spacing. This cage was one of the only cages we could find with small 3/8" wire spacing. I would agree it is only big enough for one ferret and you need to be creative on how you place things inside. I using a corner litter pan under the lower shelf and attached a small box next to that filled with toys. The locking thing won't work on this cage because of the wire spacing so I made a loop with a tie wrap and put the loop through the wire and put a clothes pin through it to secure the pan. We have a huge hammock hanging above the lower shelf with toys on elastic in each corner, which she often plays with from her hammock. I attached a small box onto the top shelf with a blanket in it and our ferret likes to run up there to get her treat. The cage is smaller about half the size of our first cage but she has adjusted well and more imoprtantly is safe. Oh yea, since our ferret is litter trained I didn't want her walking on the lower grate so we left it out and used the plastic pull out tray instead. The floor is much easier to wipe clean this way. We attached and a couple of metal strips to the under side of the cage to support the tray. If you have a large ferret, or more than one ferret, I wouldn't recommend this cage. But if your ferret is small like ours (6 months and only 2#) this cage could work for you.

Agree 100% with Christine, 2/4/2011

Dave from

I can't say much, because I am having the exact same problems Christine stated. After putting in your litter pans food bowls etc., there is little room left on the bottom. I love to spoil my carpet sharks as well and after installing the hammock and other essentials, your left with very little room to work with. The build quality is pretty good. This cage would be fine for 1 ferret, but it is just to small for multiple ferrets. They do tend to slide on the metal ramps. My last major concern is the single door in the front. It makes cleaning a little harder and difficult to reach your fuzzy if he is up in his hammock.

It's ok..., 3/12/2010

Christine from Virginia Beach, VA

We got this when we got our first ferret and it served it's purpose but we soon realized that it looks bigger than it is. When we started building up the amount of toys and beds, we quickly ran out of room. If you don't have a whole lot for your ferret it would be fine. But I love to spoil my babies. We then got a second ferret and upgraded to the Ferret Nation, we are much happier with that cage. And so are the ferrets. The prevue cage can easily house 2 ferrets if you don't have a whole lot of play items in the cage with them. It was difficult to clean because the door is so small you can only fit one arm in at a time to do anything inside the cage. The shelves were also so tiny they served no purpose other than a place for the ferrets to walk. So the only real place for there ferrets to be is on the bottom of the cage. The ladders were also a little hard for the ferrets to walk on.
