Product Summary:

Panacur C Green Dog Granules

Panacur C Green Dog Granules are typically used to treat hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms (Taeniid Tapeworms and Taenia Tapeworms), and whipworms in dogs. They are used by veterinarians to treat other parasites as well. Available in 1g, 2g, and 4g powder packets.

  • Generic Name: Fenbendazole (fen-ben'-da-zole)
  • Brand Name(s): Panacur C (Intervet)

Fenbendazole is an anthelminthic (dewormer) used in the treatment of certain types of roundworm, hookworm, whipworm and tapeworm infections in dogs. Fenbendazole is available over the counter (OTC) as granules in three packs: 1g packets, 2g packets, or 4g packets.

Fenbendazole is FDA approved for use in dogs only. The usual dose for dogs, based on weight using the chart below, is once a day for three consecutive days. The medication can be mixed with a small amount of the animal's usual food. Dry dog food may require slight moistening to allow for proper mixing. Medicated food must be fully consumed to be effective.

    Dog Weight Packet Size:*
    10 lb.: 1g
    20 lb.: 2g
    30 lb.: 1g + 2g
    40 lb.: 4g
    50 lb.: 1g + 4g
    60 lb.: 2g + 4g
    80 lb.: Two 4g
Over 80 lb.: Use combinations to obtain recommended dose
*Packet size is the daily dose. The dog must be treated with this dose for three days in a row.

    What are the side effects?
Side effects of fenbendazole are rare but may include loose stools.

    What special precautions are there?
This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. Because humans can contract roundworm, hookworm and tapeworm from pets, it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.

In the event of an overdose: Contact your veterinarian or veterinary emergency room.

Store this medication at controlled room temperature (59-86°F).

    Works great, 2/3/2010

    Janet from

I can't seem to kill the whipworm lifecycle so my dogs need to be dewormed regularly. Panacur works great and is inexpensive. The dogs eat it right up and it doesn't seem to affect their stool.

Panacur C is the best, 10/4/2009

    Nicole from Somerset, PA

I get this for my dogs and puppies from my vet. I just had to get some from my vet because my adult dog got worms again from my new puppy and nowI don't see worms in her poop. I got 2 of the 4 gram packets for my 80lb dog at my vet for $ 18 so at my vet its a few bucks cheaper. But if I ever need it again I am ordering it offline so I don't gotta keep gonig into the vet with my dog since she is aggressive. But if you have puppies then get Panacur C because it takes care of all types of worms. I do highly reccomend this.

It does work when used correctly!!, 7/27/2009

    Amanda from Sharon,CT

With any wormer it needs 2 rounds to be affective. Panacur is the best as it works on so many intestinal parasites. You do 3 days of treatment and then repeat in 3 weeks. if you get it from a vet or get the over the counter type...you need to repeat in 3 weeks.

    Christine from New York, NY

I was prescribe this medicine by the vet and purchased it from the vet for $60.00 I had to give my dog the 4 gram packet, 2 packets for 5 days. If I would of known it was available here for half the price I would of purchased it from Dog.com. But it is a great Med and my dog is doing much better. Dog.com has great prices

    Didn't work for tapeworm, 12/10/2008

    Angie from Spokane, WA

My dog has had a LOT of tapeworm segments coming out in her poo. Took panacur and it was only relieved for about 3 weeks, and then the segments showed up in the poo again - obviously did not knock out the original adult tapeworm. Might be better for smaller tapeworms or tapeworm eggs in puppies than more severe infestations. We have an animal hoarder living next door so there is lots of exposure.

    Panacur C, 11/14/2007

    Julie from Clayton, GA

This does not work on tapeworms unless your dog has gotten the tapeworms from eating a rabbit. Make sure you read the label!

    PanacurC, 6/27/2007

    Tammy from Lemberger

I used PanacurC to get rid of Giardia in a kennel situation and it worked great. It only took three days to get rid of it all and I had healthy puppies. Not to mention it took care of de worming my puppies too.

    Panacur C, 4/23/2007

    VGH from Northern Minnesota

I was first introduced to Panacur by my vet, but it was at least double the cost! I found Dog.com and ordered the next wormer dosing from here. Decent price and it works great. I have 4 dogs that are well treated with Panacur.

    Panacur C, 3/19/2007

    JKC from Clayton, GA

I purchased this product for my dogs to take care of tapeworms and they were back in a few weeks. When you go on the CDC website, the only remedy for tapeworms listed is Prazaiquantel. My dogs do not have fleas and havent had fleas for years so the only conclusion I can come to is that it just flushed the tapeworms.
