Highly recommend for both sick and healthy ferrets, 5/30/2017

FerretObsessed from West Palm Beach, FL

Once per week, I mix dried kibble, Uncle Jim's Duk Soup, thermal freeze dried chicken and a Dream Treat with water to make a very concentrated "soup mix", which will last about a week in the refrigerator. Each morning, I thin some of the mixture with warm water and serve it to my four fuzzies for breakfast. They love it! When my tiny Lilly was ill, Duk Soup was the only thing she would eat - it also helps 7-yr old Susie stay active and happy. I recommend getting your ferrets used to the taste of Duk Soup BEFORE they get sick and need it.

I have a very old ferret who goes off her feed bag sometimes and this Duk Soup gets her right back on track again. She loves it, along with the other younger ferrets too! The price is right and the reclosable bag makes it easy to make a little or a lot at a time. Good Stuff!

One of my ferrets was very ill, fur loss, weight loss, it was looking bad for the little guy. He started getting duck soup and he's doing so much better! This is a great product and I'm not sure if my little guy would still be with us on his medicine alone.

Feed it before you need it., 1/19/2017

MommaT from Williston, VT

We use this as a daily supplement in a warm "gruel" which we feed twice daily. Because ferrets imprint on their food, if they are not already acclimated to the taste and you need to get this into them when they are ill, you will have a difficult time trying to sustain their caloric intake.

Tried other products and out of the 9 ferrets none would eat them. With this one all but the youngest one will eat it. Great when they are sick and can't eat kibble or right after teeth cleaning.

I've had my little Trixie for almost 2 years now. She was a gift from my son. She is such a fiinicky eater an ignores most snacks i get her. My son complains that she is tiny for her age ( almost 2 n a half) so i bought the duk soup to see if she'd try it an she loves it!

It was recommended by my vet when Chewy got sick. Lilly now can't get enough of it, she makes sure I'm up in the morning to make it. Mixed with kibble and a little hot water to a thick paste, then cold water to cool it (not to much). The ferrets just love it.

Excellent for sick, recovering or under weight ferrets, 2/18/2016

RichB from Staten Island, NY, USA

Started using this after my four year old fuzzy recovered from the ECE virus. The vet gave her a fifty fifty shot. At first I had to syringe feed my fuzzy because she was simply too weak. After four days she began eating from her bowl on her own then was eating her regular diet shortly after. Now I give both my girls a bit in the morning every day and they go bananas for it. Highly recommend this product.

Must-have product in your ferret first aid kit!, 2/2/2016

deeR0w from

I've been around ferrets for a good 20 years now and this stuff always seems to get even the pickiest eaters. For some it works in a warm gruel, for others as a soup, and yet others just love it sprinkled on their food. It's great in fattening them up when, for one reason or another, they start losing weight. I personally sprinkle it on their food weekly as a supplement.

Best Product, 5/19/2015

claska from Fargo, ND, USA

My four ferrets absolutely love Duk Soup! They can never get enough of it. I buy in bulk and feed it to them once every day or two. One of my ferrets is a bit skinny, and has a harder time keeping on weight. This product definitely helps with her digestion, and is able to keep more of the nutrients. Definitely recommend for improving your fuzzie's health or just for a treat, they'll love it either way.

Gypsy from Seabeck, Wa USA

This product was recommended to my by another individual who has ferrets too. Once I got my ferrets use to this product, they gained more weight, looked healthier, and appeared to have more energy. I am please with this product and highly recommend using it as a supplement in addition to the dry ferret kibble you give to your own ferrets. ((I recommend NOT mixing this product into the Kibble though. Instead, serve it with warm water)).

Absolute Essential!, 1/11/2015

SamC from Raleigh, NC, USA

This is an essential in our 2 ferret home. My fuzzies look forward to it everyday as a special treat in addition to their dry kibble (Evo). I mix a little Duk Soup with water until it's pancake batter consistency, add a small squirt of Furo-tone, and they gobble it up! None of the pet stores near me carry Duk Soup and when I run out, I notice that their energy seems to be less. Ferret.com has the best price (even when you factor in shipping) and is hands down the most convenient!

Our rescued ferret became ill and was diagnosed with insulinoma. Having Marshalls Ferret Uncle Jims Duk Soup 4 times a day has been wonderful to keep his blood sugar regulated. He likes it so much we can put his nasty tasting medicine in it and he still eats it right up. Before buying anything, you should look at the ingredients. I received this, when I got my ferrets and when they got sick, and I made this for them, they would not touch it. They are raw fed ferrets, and would not even try this stuff. I ended up making my own soup with chicken and organs and they quickly ate it. Do not buy this junk.

Great for finicky eaters!, 5/9/2014

inlovewithmyferrets from West Palm Beach, FL, USA

One of my ferrets (Lilly, the runt of her litter) kept losing weight and I could not coax her to eat. Tried Uncle Jim's Duk Soup Mix and hand-fed her for about 3 days - her appetite increased and she now will eat a small amount of kibble on her own. As Lilly still is very small (18 little ounces), I mix Uncle Jim's with her kibble and water, puree the mixture and keep it in the refrigerator. I thin the mixture, warm it slightly and feed it to her 2-3 times per day (her kibble is always available). She is very active, healthy and happy! Love this product!!

Great product, 3/4/2014

betsiv from Tennessee

Our little guy Jak has developed an insulinoma and collapsed, going into shock when his blood sugar dropped down to 2 (yes t-w-o) when it should have been over 80. After a trip to the ER, the folks there said to try and give him anything he would eat just to get his glucose levels back up a bit. He was too weak to eat anything and we thought he would die. I had a pack of Duck Soup in the pantry from an earlier illness he had, so i mixed a little bit of it with water and made it into a mush. He immediately began to lap it up. I offered it to him every time he was awake and slowly but surely that - along with a small helping of FerretVite on a spoon - he began to regain his strength. I really feel that Duck Soup saved his life and am so appreciative to whoever came up with the formula! I ordered several packets of it just in case because this is a condition he will always have. I still give it to him in small amounts, mixed in with his regular food and a little water.

Duk Soup, 3/4/2014

FerretMommom from

I had bought the Duk soup to try to get my little grand ferret to like it just in case he ever got sick. Too late, I waited too long. He seems to have caught a cold. I tried the mix and knowing how he loves to crunch his kibble I made it thick. He would not touch it unless I put FerreTone on it. Kept trying it for several days until I made it thinner, then he ate it WITHOUT the Ferretone. Last night he ate three times the original amount I tried him on. I just gave him some really thin and had to make more. He has definitely showed improvement on how he feels. I will be purchasing more to have on hand ALL the time. OH, he likes eating it off the spoon while Mommom holds it for him, but did "drink" it out of a bowl. Hope this helps anyone else trying to get theirs to eat it. Keep trying.

Duck Soup, 2/25/2014

Yogibear from North Carolina, USA

I have a little girl that is about 8 years old and barely eats anymore, I don't know what is wrong with her so, I bought the duck soup because of the good reviews. I have tried giving it to her through a syringe and she just gets it all over herself and me. She won't try eating it , the only thing that I can get her to eat is the ferrevite. I have to add water to it so that it's not thick. Does anyone have a suggestion to help get her appetite back?

Good to help out under the weather ferrets, 1/2/2014

FireFighter207 from Knoxville, TN, USA

My little guy was having some serious digestive issues and I read about this product helping out with this issue. I was really concerned and worried about Paco because he is getting older, (around 8 ) and his stomach was really bothering him. He didn't tolerate his medicine very well so this was a huge find because he enjoys eating it and he doesn't realize he is taking his medicine. His weight is improving and I know he feels better just by looking at him. I recommend this product as it has worked well , and Paco is doing much better.

Good stuff, 10/4/2012

KATHLEEN KELLISON from Denver, Colorado

This is some god stuff. One of my ferrets used to have trouble eating and getting used to her new kibble, so I put this in dry, just a sprinkle, and she loved it! She now eats her food without it, but it's great to put in a couple times per week. My other ferret loves it too, but he doesn't like the gravy form as much as his sister does. My two fuzzies have different ways they like their Duk Soup prepared, but I've seen no objections to it being added dry to the food. =)

Duk Soup Saves Lives, 4/27/2011

Tranque from Huntington, WV

My 1 1/2 year old adopted ferret is undergoing a relapse of ECE, which after two episodes of severe vomiting and diarrhea landed her in the animal ER for dehydration. She was always chubby until she came down with it the first time and has had trouble gaining weight, but when she began the dreaded wasting I did everything I could to get as much nutrition to her as possible. For a few days, she stopped eating, even her favorite treat, Ferretvite. I had to make her eat some of the Duk Soup she previously loved. Now that she's come around to eating again, I think the Duk Soup is responsible for her energy and helping her (slowly) put back a little weight. I mix the Duk Soup with a hefty portion of Gerber or Beech Nut chicken baby food and Ferretvite. If she's dehydrated, you can also use water with Ferret Aid electrolyte supplement to mix it up. All around, this is one of the best things for a ferret in crisis!

Duck soup-Ferrets LOVE IT!!, 7/27/2010

Robin from Howell, NJ

First this is absolutely the BEST PRICE I have seen for years and I buy this all the time. This is the best stuff for ferrets. Not only when they are under the weather but all the time. I can tell you this has been a lfe saver to more than 1 of my rescue ferrets. It has all the right ingredients PLUS plenty of fluid as ferrets like to drink. This will help your ferret(s) be as healthy as possible. I give it at least every other day if not every day with about a teaspoon of corn syrup(for Adrenal issues) and a tablespoon or 2 of Turkey or Beef baby food from a jar. They will go crazy. Email me with issues rcrn5@verizon.net.

GREAT product, 8/13/2009

Kyley from Tulsa,OK

My new ferret was very skinny when i got him (you could see every bone in his body) and so i ordered this product, the ferretvite, and ferret lax. I mixed alittle bit of all the products together added water and VUALA! My fuzzy was reluctant to try it at first but now he likes it very much! He is even getting his energy back and i have only given it to him once!!! Great product, Great price!!!

I mix with broth, 8/13/2009

Ferret Parent from Dallas, TX

I boil a couple of organic chicken parts (usually wings with skin-on) and after they've cooked completely, I add the dry duk soup powder and make up a batch. I then put most of it in tiny containers and freeze it. I keep a small quantity in the refrigerator and the only way my ferrets with eat Duk (and I know they need it) is with a raw egg yolk (a little bit of Duk mixed in with the yolk). Always separate the egg white completely (use an egg separator) because raw egg white (cooked egg white is ok, though) contains a B-vitamin blocker called Avidin. I usually split the yolk mixture between both my two ferrets after I've mixed a teaspoon of Duk into it. Raw egg yolk makes a ferret's stool runny, so be sure he's getting plenty of his regular solid food to bulk it up. Good luck!

Ferrets Love it!!!, 5/5/2009

Michelle from Batesville, AR

My new little fuzzy got sick and this soup mix fixed him right up. I had to give him antibiotics and he wouldn't take the meds unless it was in the duk soup.

Awsome !!!, 3/29/2009

Sarah from Missouri

I have an elderly ferret that had lost alot of weight and would not eat. At first he would not eat the duck soup. But after I started feeding it to him in a syrgine he loved it. I now mix it in a bowl into a soup and he eats two bowls a day. He has put on weight and is back to his old self. I would reccommend this for anyone.

AMAZING STUFF, 3/18/2009

Alyssa from Atlanta, GA

I used this stuff when my already petite ferret got sick and started eating less. This helped her and in no time she was healthy as could be. But thats not all! I had an old rat that was getting weak and quit eating. We assumed she was not going to live much longer. I fixed her a 2 bowls a day of this soup and it was all she would eat. It helped her put her weight back up and added another 2 months to her life (quite good for a rat)

Great product -how to make more palatable, 2/24/2009

KC from Texas

I had a sick little dehydrated rescue ferret that I could not get to eat hard food, and she would not put on weight. I tried to feed her the duck soup but she didn't want to eat it. I squirted in some Ferretone and boy, now she DIVES into it!!! What a difference in her weight and energy too! Great product, does what it is supposed to, and with the Ferretone even my healthy ferrets try to sneak some!

This product is not for every fuzzy baby!, 2/11/2009

Jessica from Waterbury, CT

I tried this product with my male ferret and he would not even eat his food with the Duk soup on it! I tried for a whole week, and he still would not eat his food or the duk soup separate! But I tried another product 8in1 FerretVite; My ferret LOVES this product! So I guess Duk soup isn't for every fuzzy!

Duk Soup Mix for Ferrets, 11/29/2008

Charles Strassner from Utah

Great product !!! We often adopt ferrets that have been raised solo and forget they are ferrets. They may get depressed and go off their food, so we make a bowl of Marshal Ferret food, Ferretvite and Duk Soup, adding warm water to make a nice tasty warm meal the consistancy of gravy. They lap it up like candy. Sometimes we may need to hand feed to get one back to good spirits. Duk Soup is a great supplement. This product has saved the life of many new fuzzies. Introduce this mixed with your usual food for best results. Our guys will now eat any thing we put in their bowl. Duk Soup is part of their regular diet, so if anyone gets ill, they are already used to Duk Soup.

Ferrets dislike it; I'm fine with it., 11/13/2008

Ant from NY

I bought this to attempt to fatten up one of my skinny guys. Only problem is that he goes berserk whenever I put some strange foods near his face. This is only my experience, I realize how well it works for other pet owners. So I guess it depends on the pet and amount of patience one has. Good produce nonetheless (even if it has a strange smell, especially to ferrets :P).

This stuff is great for ferrets who are sick, 8/29/2008

April from Carbondale, IL

my ferret Kodo recently was diagnosed with Aldrenal Disease. He refused to eat, so the vet told us to use Duk Soup. He loves this stuff. He has gained so much weight and is doing much better. ( We have been feeding every 4 hours though). This stuff is great for ferrests who are sick and need a pick me up.

Good if other ferrets love it, but mine wont touch, 8/26/2008

Kayla from Knoxville, TN

I have 2 ferrets, my older one Mellow gave it a few licks and then ran away from it, and my younger one Ricky wouldn't even give it a try. They love the hard Marshall's tho. One thing I really didn't like about it is that is stinks. I guess if other ferrets love it then that's good, but I have highly picky ferrets. They won't even eat cooked chicken, so I just took a chance with this stuff and it was a no. At least it don't cost to much.

Excellent Supplement, 2/27/2008

Katherine Strassner from Provo, Utah

An adopted ferret we recently took in lost interest in eating and became very dehydrated and weak. With a little duck soup added to some softened food, making a soupy mix, the little guy was quickly back on his feet! All 8 of our ferrets get some of this once a week and their overall conditon is tremendously improved!
