Great Addition to 11-Panel Playpen, 7/5/2017

BRinOH from Ohio

I ordered the 8-Panel Playpen to add to our 11-Panel Playpen. (The 8 panels are the best per-panel price.) It it great to be able to extend the 11 panels, or use the 8 panels alone.

Exactly what i was looking for!, 11/21/2016

Elisabeth from Warwick, ny

I bought this playpen for my degus to have a safe space to run around. It is really sturdy, the wires are a good thickness and coated well. My degus hasnt been able to chew the coating off, and she is always chewing on them. Its super easy to set up and put away, and It folds up nicely. Its a great height for small critters. Tall enough for them to not be able to jump out, but im still able to climb over to get into it. I use it ALL the time!! Highly recommend this product. Price was great compared to others i looked at. Plus the shipping was quick, i dont even think it took a week. I actually bought 2 bc i thought it wasnt going to be big enough, but one was the perfect size. I kept the 2nd anyways. Hope this helped!

I didn't buy the playpen for a ferret, I purchased it to block off rooms and furniture from my dogs. The "playpen" is easy to maneuver and fold up for storage. It works great for what I needed.

Best for playtime, 1/23/2016

dhey from Out in the country

Love this play pen. When I have things to do she has lots of fun and play space. I also got the canvas bottom. A MUST! as she continually messes and dumps out her treats! In the summer it will keep her from digging out. She and the dog play through the bars!

Excellent Product!, 2/4/2015

LittleAlbert from Chicago, IL

I highly recommend this product. I own a chinchilla and I bought two of the playpens. They very easily expand and snap together so that the play area is bigger. They also fold up very nicely for easy storage after I am finished with them. They are a good height, he hasn't been able to jump out (although he has tried). I may consider getting some of the expansion panels just to make it bigger and because I love this product so much! I have gotten great use out of it!

The girls LOVE it!, 1/13/2015

DragonsMonkey from Bradford, PA 16701, USA

The girls have lots of fun with their toys in this. Make sure you buy a cover for the bottom it otherwise you'll have a mess all over the place. We use bell balls, "dryer vent" tube (bought on here), play balls, anything that keeps them enter- tained.

Ferret Safety, 11/27/2014

cstiely from

Love this playpen. Keeps my ferrets safe from getting into things around the house (when I can't watch them every second) and it's easy just to pick up and take outside when my fuzzbutts want some fresh air. I bought the 3 extra panels too for more room.

Spacious playpen!, 8/29/2014

dogdookmom from New Jersey, USA

My ferrets enjoyed being outside in their pen. Digging and smelling the grass. You cannot leave them alone in this...I am absolutely sure they will find a way out! So don't ignore them. They are just as precious and valuable as a human baby, so remember that. A life is a life. The pen is very durable, a bit heavy to carry, but made very well. They were happy for about 15 minutes. You know ferrets, they want to be doing something else, NOW.

lots of use, 12/3/2013

fadeafterfall from

my ferret niva spends most of her time during the day in the pen because there's no way to ferret proof our room/house. playing in the pen indoors and outdoors giving her the freedom and energy and exercise that she so desperately needs. she's only gotten out once and that was my own fault not any fault of the pen. it was a little bit larger than I expected and I like the versatility of being able to make it smaller if I need to by just folding around some of the panels differently. it seems well made and fairly sturdy

They Like it and I like it.., 11/15/2013

Kuroth from Texas

My 2 little stinkers Love their Playpen.. We don’t give them free roam of the house so I try and get them out of their cage and in the Playpen for 2 to 3 hrs a day.. One thing.. Just the other day I caught one of my girls climbing up the side of the Playpen and was just about to go over the top.. I then discovered how she was doing this.. I had recently got one of those Cat towers (is what I call them) and even though I set it on its side and right in the middle of the Pen so its not very high or close to the Pen walls, this little stinker has figured out she can leap from it to the First level of the Pen walls and then climb up.. So they don’t get to play with that toy unless one of us is right there with them the whole time..

Fits my four animals, 7/26/2013

Amber from Seaside Heights, NJ, USA

I have 3 ferrets and a small dog and as you can imagine its hard to take them all out at once with leashes. This pen allows them to get fresh air without the hassle. I used it on grass, they attempted only for a minute go escape but when they realized it wasn't happening they just started to relax. I would recommend still however that you never leave your animal outside unattended.

Good investment!, 6/22/2013

Rachael from California

I like this because it's pretty roomy, however I don't think it's roomy enough for both of my ferrets to REALLY get exercise in. However, it's suitable for the times that we don't want to have to supervise them throughout the house. I bought the extension kit along with this, which was a joke. Easy to put together, impossible to KEEP together. As soon as you slide the next panel in, the other one is falling off. The material even feels cheaper, and when trying to rig it to stay in place, one of the metal pieces used to secure it broke off. The other thing I like about the 8 panel playpen is that you can use it to block off areas of your house you don't want them running through when they are playing outside of the pen. Very sturdy, but also very portable. Now I know better just to buy another 8 panel and hook it to my other one! Looking forward to that purchase.

AMurphey from Tucson, AZ

I used this playpen when my French Bulldog had puppies. I have the bottom mat and bought a cheap round plastic table cloth for extra protection, then lined it with paper. It is big enough for food, water and pet bed. It will save your carpet and is a much better than using a dog crate when you're away! 5 Stars all the way!

Home away from home, 8/28/2011

JAY HUFTY from Indian Head,MD

Went on a short trip & wanted to bring the fuzzies with us. So bought the 8 panel pen & mat for them to stay in while in the motel room. Had plenty of room for them to run around in & enough room to have there carrier in there with them so they had a place to sleep. Only problem I have is when outside with them is they like to dig & try to get under it. Great product & glad I got it.

Awesome playpen. :) , 7/19/2011

Betsy from Berwick, PA

When I first looked at this online, I was a little nervous b/c I didn't think it was very big. I've just received it, and I was totally wrong. It's very roomy, light enough to carry around and move from upstairs to downstairs. Not to mention- my brats LOVE it. It didn't take long to receive it in the mail either (still waiting on the cover/mat for it). Awesome job. :) I definitely recommend it to ferret and other small animal owners.

Great to have around! , 9/8/2010

Rhiannon from

I love this thing! Very versatile and useful. Light enough that it's easy for me to carry around, but sturdy enough to do the job. Most of the time I don't use it as a playpen at all: I have it stretched out as a fence to block off the 6-foot-wide "door" to my kitchen. Neither of my boys have been able to get through. With a bit of simple wire bending you can add and remove individual panels and use them as custom gates to block off fireplaces or Christmas trees or whatever other hazards you come across. I recently used it (in its intended playpen shape) as a home-away-from-home when we visited a friend during Labor Day weekend. The playpen kept the ferrets safe, and the floor mat (sold separately) kept our host's floors safe. Makes me want to travel with them more often. :)

Excellent Play pen, 7/16/2010

Kortskritters from NV

I bought this item 6yrs ago and love it! Every now and then I order extension panels to make it bigger and my ferrets love it. I have it set up in a spare room, and I put my ferret nation cage inside of the play pen with the cage door open so they have the option of playing in the pen or hanging out in their cage. Most of the time they play in the pen. I have only had one ferret escape from it in the past 6yrs and that was because of a toy that was next to the side of the pen that was tall enough to give them leverage to climb over the top. As long as you use low toys or keep tall toys away from the border the pen works great. Best ferret play pen out there!

I have had this for about 6 months now for my 3 ferrets. 1 jumper. 1 little girl. 1 big fatty. So far, I have not had any escapes except when I didn't assemble it correctly. I can leave them in this for an hour and leave the room and feel perfectly safe. It's made my life alot easier, and my ferrets don't mind being in it at all. The price is really good here too!

Playpen, 7/11/2009

I too had my ferret escape from the playpen. I solved this problem by attaching 18 inches of plastic mesh (3/4 inch diamond) with small zip ties around the outside bottom of the entire pen. I can still disassemble and move it around. She hasn't escaped since.

Fantastic for guinea pigs, too, 7/3/2009

VCastro from Madison, tn

I bought the large, 11-panel version and one mat earlier but just found this site with the expansion panels and ordered that and another mat (wash one/"wear" one?). Better price here than I paid elsewhere for the pen and first cover. The 5 cavies have a huge cage but still love their floor time and with the two giant cats we have, this is almost like having one whole room to run safely in. I figure the cats could clear the top if they were motivated enough but mostly they just sit outside the playpen and stare at the piggies inside. The guinea pigs love it so much I put up a YouTube video of them playing in it. They are really going to love having an extra 3 panels!

(they can squeeze through tiny openings) so 2 roam the house wile the others play nicley in the pen... the warning comes with putting this outside....all my ferrets started digging in the grass and before i knew it they were getting out!!!! LUCK I WAS THERE TO CATCH THEM!anywaysplease do not put them in this pen outside on grass they will dig their way out and keep a close eye on them...

WARNING!, 6/2/2009

JEN from CT

THOUGH I really like this cage for my 6 ferrets. 2 have learned to climb out even with the red cover velcrowed on top.

Bought for ferrtes, ended up using for dog, 5/11/2009

jamie from maryland

I bought this for my two ferrets, thinking that it would be great for them inside and out... BUT they sure showed me... They were able to get out of the cage by squeezing out between the vertical wires!!! So I didn't dare try it outside which is what I originally bought it for! I think it would be much better if they put more or the horizontal wires around it so they wouldn't be able to get out. So I ended up using it for my 4lb dog when I work, I love it for her But not the ferrets.

I love it!!!, 2/3/2009

I just recently moved into a trailer home that has too many little ins and outs for my ferrets to run around in, so this is a god send! They aren't quite used to it (they're used to having the whole apartment), but none of them can get out of it; not even my huge baby. I would recommend this to anyone!

play pen mat, 8/22/2008

Raina from Cape Coral, Florida

My little Noel loves to dig at the play pen mat, so much that she scratched at the seam of the mat and created a hole to escape, be sure to keep a few extra mats on hand and check them frequently. They are not as water proof as you thing. Water bowls that are played in and dripping water bottles that make the mat wet discolor the carpets and it is very hard to get the carpet to clean

Has it's pro's and con's, 8/21/2008

Kishwa from Ohio

Pro's - This is a nice size cage, I have 2 ferrets and they love to bounce around and have plenty of room to chase each other, even with their litter box, food, water and all of their toys. Plus my daughter even gets in there and sits. And it's great that you dont have to chase them around the house.. But I do suggest that if you do buy it, to buy the mat that goes with it, for those lil ferret messes. Con's - However Im not sure I will put mine back in this cage anymore. For those who have ferrets that love to use their mouth to open things, you will know what Im talking about. My Ama today decided to do just that and got her mouth stuck on the corner ends. Thankfully my husband was here cuz I couldnt free her and he managed to bend the bars just enough that her mouth came free. So if you can train your ferrets to refrain from doing this, then this cage is great. But be-aware this can happen and I dont know how I could have helped her without hurting her more. Luckily she seems to be ok, we'll have to keep an eye on her though.

No complaints!, 7/14/2008

Melissa from Philadelphia, PA

I travel a lot with my guys, and the playpen with expansion pack and mat makes a perfect little ferret zone, especially when visiting people who aren't so keen on ferrets in their house. Plus it keeps my guys out of trouble, or lets them safely enjoy the outside. They do dig, so keep an eye on them, and some of mine have figured out how to climb over if you put a toy or cage close to the walls of the pen. I have no complaints about the construction, and with the handy carrying case we have easily assembled and disassembled the playpen MANY times up and down the east coast!

A good buy, but you might want a spare or two, 6/17/2008

Michael & Jessica from Colorado Springs

We really liked the idea of the play pen and the play pen mat because we don't ever like to put our little carpet sharks in a cage, but can't always keep an eye on them either. The mats will defiantly save your carpets from their digging tendencies, but we've found a few problems with them. 1) It’s defiantly a bit of a task to clean up "accidents", but since they're all potty trained now and haven't relieved themselves outside the litter box since they were 4 months old, that isn't a problem. 2) The problem we are having is that they (especially the baby of the bunch) tend to dig... and dig... and dig... right through the bottom of the mat!!! We keep all of their nails short and yet they still managed to tear a giant hole in the mat and even climb underneath it. It was quite a surprise to walk into the room and find them all gone! Luckily they were unable to push underneath the cage part and were simply trapped under the mat. and 3)They managed to tear off (and I'm pretty sure eat) the Velcro straps holding the mat to the cage. Oh, and I thought ferrets were colorblind, but appearently not, they don't seem to like the red colored mats, this was the one they seemed to tear apart the most.

an unimpressive design, 6/15/2008

Eric from Troy,NY

The pieces do go together but fall apart easily and must be stored individually as it will not fold flat. I bought these to add to a pen but they are such a hassle to use I am going to cut off the hook and eyes and just use a wire to allow the pieces to fold flat when not in use and stay together when being erected. It literally takes three hands and a helper to assemble it outdoor.

Truly a Godsend, 4/1/2008

Tina Schweiger-Palmer from Roanoke, VA

I have three very different fuzzies, all of whom love to romp and tackle each other. This playpen is truly a Godsend as they can wrestle all day and I never have to worry about whether they are safe. It has become the centerpiece of my livingroom and allows friends to play with my ferrets without the stigma of a "caged" animal. My fuzzies are very "people friendly" and get excited someone new walks into the house as they are the center of attention! I highly recommend this product as it allows my fuzzies to be a part of all the "happenings"!

One in every crowd!, 3/4/2008

Vickie from Tenino, WA

We have several ferrets and this cage has ben a wonder, BUT!..there is one in every crowd and we seem to have that one. Our one and only SUPER ferret who is quite the jumper, has learned to scale this fence. We simply duct taped the top of the fence. Since the top horizontal bar has been covered, there have been no escapes. I still would recommend this fence. Not all ferrets are as wyly and determined as our escape artist.

Great Product, 2/25/2008

Cyndi from Cape Coral FL

This product is great. The only issue I have is you cant put toys in it that the ferrets can stand on and jump from. If they get that little extra height is enough for them to get onto the top bar and out of the cage. my solution was to fold books over the top bar so they really couldn't grab it. Otherwise this is awesome.

NOT for an escape artist!, 2/3/2008

Layla from Key West, FL

I was very happy with this playpen at the beginning, but now I've had it folded and storaged in the bag for months. Playpen seemed to work very well for my one ferret - she spent there a lot of time outside of cage when I couln't keep my eye on her. But happiness lasted for a month only - Sophie learned to get out of it in less than a minute, even the bottom and top covers(mats) do NOT help!!! And she has never escaped from her cage ... She just starts to jump up, until she can get a push off from the lower horizontal bar with her back feet, then crabs the upper horizontal bar with front paws and over she is.

This is great for saving the floors when the playpen is used inside and you have a ferret who isnt quite litter trained yet. The only problem I have had with it is no matter how hard I scrub it poop still stain it, other then that its a life saver esp for spilled food or leaky water bottles.

I don't know what I would do without this. It offers plenty of space for my ferret, Gracie, to run around in. When you need to clean the cage and can't keep an eye on your ferret, this is the perfect answer. It's sturdy, yet light enough to carry when folded. It folds easily for storage.

All in al pleased, 8/19/2007

Ben Ford from Iowa

I purchase this unsure exactly how large it was. The 8 Panel workes great for me and my two ferrets. This allows me to let them out in any room even with my cats running around. there is only two things I noticed on is you may need to adjust the wire loops that hold it together. This is just minor and simple to repair. And secondly one of my little guys likes to grab on to the cage and colapse it inward. that why supervison is still required. I am going to try the MatCover and se if that will keep the playpen from being colapsed. I am very happy with this purchase and even more so with the price.

This product is great for litter training and for keeping your fuzzies safe without having to lock them up in their cage when you cant watch them. It would get 6 stars if there was an easier way to unlatch each individual piece, but youd have to bend the wire.

Get two for extra safety , 3/5/2007

Kari from Oregon

My ferrets like being outside. I use one mat for underneath the cage to protect from whatever may be on the ground and another for on top to keep the ferrets in they climb on their toys and try to jump out and other crittersdebris out. With the 11 panel setup there is enough room to put their travel cage and some toys out and they can safely play when they want and dont always have to be on their leashes outside. Of course supervision is still required.

convenient, 8/24/2006

Chris from Laurel, MD

It sets up really easily and is sturdy when connected. Would definitely reccomend getting the additional panels for the extra floor space and the mat for indoor use to protect your floors. I can let my ferrets run a little more unsupervised using this by not having it attached, but using it to cordone off a single room from the rest of the house as well. Taking it outside can become a little bit of an issue if your ferrets are diggers, in which case, use the mat.

Even when i go to work instead of putting them in their cage all day i leave them in this and they are fine!!!!!!!I do recommend though to purchase the mat that protects your floor. It is worth it!!!!!!
