Not Hardcore Enough, 11/8/2010

Liz from NJ

My 50lb pit mix LOVED this bone. I thought I had found the perfect solution to his home alone boredom, but he'd chewed it through it completely in a couple days. Disappointing. The search for a stuffable treat toy that holds up to my dog's iron jaws continues.

Banded's Favorite Toy, 8/9/2010

Priscilla Stewart from

This has been Banded's favorite toy since he was a puppy! He now is 1 1/2 & weighs 90 pounds and I just ordered a new one, since the original is getting pretty shabby. I read the review about the Rino Bone that Maggie has, so I ordered one for Banded. I picked up pieces of black rubber within fifteen minutes of giving it to him, and after two days, I threw it away! In My house the Rhino Bone cant hold a candle to the Extreme Kong Goodie Bone!

Fabulous!, 7/22/2010

Angela from

My 60 lb. boxer/hound mix loves it! She is a toy destroyer, but this has lasted months and is her favorite bedtime treat/toy. We stuff it with a nylabone "naturals" treat sticks, which are the perfect size to fit the hole with a bit sticking out each end, or with a rawhide poked in. She gets the majority of the treat quickly, but then she spends 30 minutes gnawing out the little bits from inside. It gives her lots of entertainment and has stood up to her chewing.

Tough toy for aggressive chewers not so tough., 9/22/2009

Donna from Oland, Ca

I tried one of these Kong goodie bones, thinking that it would hold up like the Rino Bone put out by Nylabone. It didn't come close. My girl loves rubber toys but has a very strong jaw and eats through toys quickly. The Rino bone lasts her months. Well were I moved to no place closer than 100 miles carries them. Since I was ordering through dog.com I figured that I would try one of the goodie bones as they are advertized for aggressive chewers. It got here Maggie loved it, but it didn't last one day. Within a couple of hours I had to trash it as she had shreded the end. I don't recommend this toy for any dog that likes to get down and chew on toys.

Durable and fun, 4/20/2009

Milfed from Akron, Ohio

This Kong Xtreme Goodie Bone is great. My Airedale's teeth can sink in but he has not been able to tear it apart. However, he can get the treats out within 10 minutes

not for the strong chewer, 3/29/2009

natasha from ct

Our american bulldog has a very strong jaw and makes it her job to bit through whatever toy she gets. I was hoping the extreme kong would give her more of a challenge. Well not really. I still get the bones to stuff with the paste and her treats but as soon as the treat is gone the toy has to be taken away or she eats it too, many vomiting episodes of chewed up rubber toys. As with any toy--please watch your dog carefully.

Our Boxer Loves It!, 12/1/2008

Amy from Golden, CO

This bone lasts a long time! Our Boxer isn't just nibbling on it either! I put cookies in the end and leave it with him every time I leave the house, he will even bring it to me and drop it in front of me asking for it to be filled!

Not strong enough, 11/1/2008

Lauren from Washington

This xtreme goodie bone is NOT xtreme. Its a good quality, but my two goldendoodles have a mission to chew thru anything. It took one of them lass than an hour to have the goodie bone in many pieces. I suppose this is good because any of toy is annihilated in five minutes or less. The Xtreme kong in the largest size, however, has held up a bit better. Theyve only managed to get tiny pieces off of it :

Not for aggressive chewers., 8/31/2008

Tracy from Girardville, Pa

I had purchased this for my 7 month old Husky mix who has destroyed every stuffed toy we had ever purchased. It took him a few minutes to get the treat out of the side and then proceded to rip the rubber apart where you put the treat in. The price is definately not worth the 10 minutes it occupied him.

Survives lawn mowers!, 7/15/2008

I accidentally hit my dog's Extreme Goodie bone with the lawn mower, and it stopped the mower instantly! When I pulled it out, there was not any visible damage! This is the only toy my 60 lb dog hasn't eaten.

great toy, 3/20/2008

Tracy from Milwaukee, WI

I love this toy, I have a lab mix and cattle dog puppy, they both love it and it keeps them busy trying to get the treats out for an hour. I'm buying more to hide around the house to keep them occupied while we are at work. I wish dog.com sold bil jac treats, they fit perfectly in this toy the peanut butter ones)

Didn't last in my house!, 3/7/2008

Peri from Maryland

Once the treats were in, my 1-year old weimaraner proceeded to bite off the pieces that hold the treat in place, rendering it useless as a treat holder. Nowhere near as durable as black kongs!

Full of it, 2/8/2008

Matt from Cincinnati, OH

I say the people that said their dog destroyed it in 2 minutes is full of crap. I have a puppy pit bull she chews the heck out of it. But it is still some what in good shape. Yeah I need to replace it but it lasted about a month and that is good for her toys. She destroys the red kongs in no time.

Kongs for Every Dog!, 11/23/2007

Sheila from Sarasota FL

Spike is a nine-year old Cairn Terrier. He was raised with a black Goodie Bone and a Goodie Ball. He can destroy the red ones. Plush toys dont last an hour. The key to this toy is that it provides MENTAL STIMULATION i.e. work to figure out how to get the treat. Hes tenatious and will work with the toy until he gets to the snack. He even figured out he could stand on the ottoman and drop it on the tile to try to jar the cookie a bit. This toy singlehandly made it easier to raise this mischevious little dog. The world comes to a screeching halt when I say Spike Get your bone! He grabs it and meets me in the kitchen for a refill. I would recommend the black vs. red for dogs with strong jaws... no matter how little they weigh. Spike says, I love Goodie Bones and Goodie Balls! Its the best thing since squirrel chasing!

Laura from New Jersey

I have three dogs...coonhound, german shepard mix and pit bull mix. They can and do destroy just about every toy. I fill these Kongs with peanut butter andor cheese. They start to wear eventually, but no other toy has held up as well as these and they take some abuse..including tug of war.

My dog really enjoyed it before he destroyed it!!, 11/8/2006

Tony from Princeton, NJ

I bought 2 of them, one for each of my dogs, a female Amstaff and a male APBT. I took two 5 inch bully sticks and cut them in half with a jigsaw (be carefull and wear protective gloves if you try this). Now I had four 2.5 inch bully sticks and they have just the right girth to really stay stuck in the ends of the kong toy. I gave them to the dogs and about a half hour into their chewing session I was really pleased but within an hour, my APBT had the bully sticks out by shredding the ends of the toy. I had to take it away as he surely would have eaten a few rubber chunks if I let him keep it. To destroy it, he gripped one end of the toy firmly between his front paws and started ripping at the other end with his teeth. Basically playing an extreme game of tug of war between his teeth and paws. I don't think my female will be able to pull that off. She's not as tenacious or as strong as he is. I'm sure my deceased boston terriers would have loved this toy and would not have been powerful enough to destroy it. If Kong could make a more extreme version of this toy I'd give it another shot. My 1 year old male really enjoyed it before he destroyed it.

Very entertaining toy, 9/4/2006

S Brooks from Lilburn, GA

This has been a very entertaining toy for my pitbull. He is a very powerful chewer and so far it has held up well. He's most interested in trying to get his treats out of each end and we've had fun watching him go at it. Would definitely recommend this toy.

Xtreme Goodie Bone is Great!, 7/11/2006

Jennifer from Cincinnati, OH

Our Black Lab is adept at destroying chew bones and toys, so we bought this black one and use the Kong Stuffin' Snacks to slide into the ends and our dog goes nuts! He loves to knaw on this bone, even without the treats. He has yet to break it apart, which he did within weeks on the red Kong ball. We think the Kong Xtreme is great and would recommend this to anyone with power-chewers.

Tough treat toy!, 6/20/2006

Paul from Massachusetts

First off, our dog, a 125 lb. female Anatolian Shepherd is extremely adept at destroying toys. Most in minutes or hours. We use this as a treat bone for her, breaking up her favorite biscuit treats and stuffing them in the special holes at each end. This Kong bone has held up for many months and is just now starting to show some spliting. If your dog has a knack for destroying rubber toys, limit it's use for the delivery of treats. I'm guessing for dogs less accomplished at destroying toys, this would hold up extremely well as an all purpose toy.

shannon from deerfield, nh

this was a total disapiontment for me. I was so excited to give my dog a new kong toy, the original has held up so well. In less than 90 minutes he had this in many tiny chunks around my house. He did love it, but it was a complete waste of money for me. It would probably be a good toy for a dog who is not such a strong chewer.
