We have the 3800 model, it handles our two large breeds, which is a lot! Yes, you have to dig a hole, we didn't need a post hole digger, we just followed the directions and dug a hole in the ground, it's not difficult, if you own a shovel you can do it. We placed it in a corner of our yard so it's "out of the way" that way no one trips on it or anything. A small price to pay to be green and not waste so much time and energy cleaning up poop. We put in the enzyme (you can also use store bought septic tank enzyme) once every two weeks and fill the hole almost to the top with water. That's it! It's part of our yard work routine now. Very easy to do. A comment about the person needing replacement parts: you can order a new lid or scoop if needed. The sidewalls and bottom cannot be ordered since the unit is a molded as one. The Dooley gets 8 paws up from our house! Go Green!

I love this product. I felt sorry for the garbage man when he had to come to our house each week and I hated lugging the waste from 3 giant Alaskan Malamutes. This has been a lifesaver and works great. We have had no trouble with the construction. The most work is digging the hole, but it is well worth it. I tell everyone about it.

I'm not happy with the product or available support.
I installed mine last spring, my son cracked the corner of the lid with the lawn mower. I tried to get a new lid and was told I had to buy the complete unit. That was unacceptable Being a Moldmaker I made a new top myself.
Now I see that the has crack and it is collapsing in.
I think I will redesign it to be a bit sturdier, Add some ribbing to the panels and better engagement at the corners. Also allow customers to buy replacement lids of a different material, the lids are to brittle in cold weather. maybe try decreasing the amount of recycle material and increase the wall stock.

I have the 3800 model for my Great Pyrenees, and believe me, we have A LOT to pick up! The hole was a pain to dig I recommend using a post hole digger, but boy does this thing work. I am VERY pleased, its no longer a chore to pick up after our Pyr and we no longer have a stinky mess waiting a week until the trash is picked up!
