Product Summary:

Bite Not Pet Collar

BiteNot Collars are an excellent alternative to the traditional Elizabethan collar. It provides unimpeded peripheral vision and allows your pet to eat, drink, sleep, and play while protecting the back, rump, base of tail, flanks, chest, abdomen, and genitals (even feet in small breeds). These collars are not recommended for protecting eyes or ears.

These collars are made of flexible plastic and foam and are machine-washable helping you easily keep it clean. They are the only cervical restraint with a harness strap, and that means these collars stay on. When choosing size, remember that the collar must stretch from behind the animal's ear to the top of its shoulder for maximum protection.

my schnauzer puppy needed a collar that would fit through the dog door after surgery. he happily let me put it on him and seemed very comfortable. not depressed as with a cone collar. every vet should have these as well as the cones

well worth the overnight shipping cost, 5/16/2012

Ziva's Mom from Southeast MS

My 21 lb Shiba Inu decided to make mincemeat out of her tail over the weekend, which brought us to the vet and me to the conclusion that there was no way, short of a 24 hour waking vigil, that I could keep her from making the injury worse. I tried the traditional hard e-collar--she flailed around, bucked and fought it, and then escaped from it in about 30 minutes. In the process she wacked her tail with the edge of the cone and reopened her own wound. Nothing I tried worked so, out of complete exhaustion and frustration, I ordered the Bite Not with overnight shipping. Not only did it arrive on time, but it works and it saved her tail and my sanity. One caution, you have to make sure that you apply the collar sung enough, otherwise your dog will have enough wiggle room to reach his/her lower quarters. While I can't say she loves this, she hates it a lot less than the e-collar and can wear it without panicing. She also is able to sleep comfortably in it. Thanks PetSupplies and Bite Not--you saved my sanity.

awesome!, 1/19/2011

dianne auldredge from asheville,nc

this is the best tool to keep dogs from reaching the site of injury. It is so much better then the plastic lamp shade devise, or anything else. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great Alternative to a Cone Collar, 12/24/2010

Amy from

Love it. But not for every injury. Easy to use. Dogs are not as uncomfortable as they are with a cone collar!

Disappointed, 7/22/2010

Vicki from

I was disappointed with the BiteNot collar. My lab mix was having such a fit with the e-Collar that I paid for overnight shipping to get the BiteNot collar quickly. But my dog was still able to get to the incision on his knee with the BiteNot collar. It might be good for not getting to another part of the body, but it did not work for his knee.

No more cones!, 7/16/2010

flc from

This is the answer to all of the problems created by the hated cone. This is saving me and my dog from two nervous breakdowns. All veterinarians should offer this to their patients.

finally healed, 11/19/2009

ANNA S from Brpadview Hts, OH

I desperately wanted something to keep my dog from licking and scratching awful hotspots on the side of his neck and on all of his feet. After months of trying every kind of product I happened across this and he can NOT get to those areas that were so badly affected. in just a week i cannot believe the improvement. Everyone should have one of these in their first aid supply for their dogs it is worth every penny i spent.

bitenot collar not good for labs having surgery on, 7/17/2009

Mort from Pa

We bought the BiteNot collar because our lab had a surgery on his foot a few months ago and got to his stitches 3 times with the ecollar(he actually had to wear 2 together because he kept getting to his foot). He had another surgery on his foot and we were super excited to try this collar. Doesn't work very well for keeping labs from getting to their feet. I think it deters him but if he wants at it he will definately get it. Don't recommend this product for labs getting surgery on legs or feet.

"bite not" is great, 5/28/2009

kelly from sacramento, ca

I've had many dogs over my life and have had to expose them to e-collars for one reason or another. We were ALWAYS miserable. My Lab wouldn't stand for it --until we were given the "Bite Not" from our vet. What a difference. He was so much more comfortable and easy to maintain with it. We still have it (10 years later) and have used it on other dogs. I'll never use an e-collar again.

Not the greatest , 5/20/2009

Ann from New Jersey

My Dobie had his ACL Repaired, this collar is a great idea but my dobie could not stand not being able to turn his head around (he was really stiff with it on, he cried everytime I put it on him. I ended up putting the e-collar back on him and he was much happier. I guess it just depends on which the dog likes better, not be able to turn his head around or looking like a lamp!

the bite collar, 1/1/2009

Roxanne from Bel Air, MD

Yes I would recommend this product. This collar was so much better than the traditional E-collar. My collie was much more comfortable after her surgery on her hip and she could not lick her wound site. I requested the bite collar over the e-collar because I knew from past experiences how frantic a pet gets when they have to wear an e-collar but not with the bite collar.

It works, 6/12/2007

Bob Clark from Grand Junction, Co.

Just had my dobi spayed and wanted an alternative to the e-collar. Easy to use and she does not seem to mind it. The chest strap does tend to slide back but it has not interfered with her stitches.

Works Great, 4/1/2007

Terri from Minneapolis, MN

I still cant believe how well this collar works for our dog, Bear! We had tried an E collar on him once, but that lasted about 5 minutes. He was miserable with it and couldnt even lay down to sleep. But he seems to love the Bite Not Dog Collar. He even wags his tail when we put it on him! And it works exactly as promised. He can do everything, including sleeping and eating, but he cant lick himself.

great alternative, 3/11/2007

Pamela from Spokane, WA

This collar is a great alternative to the E collar. We just had or Dally neutered and this was so much easier on him. He had no problem with it and he fit in his crate!! He still cold eat and drink and cuddle without a problem. Every vet should have these to sale or lease to their furry patients.

My vet let me borrow hers when my dog panicked with the e-collar. It was amazing. He couldnt reach his wound or even lick his feet. Im buying one now to have it on hand the next time he gets into trouble.

Perfect for a greyhound, 12/22/2006

Sheryl from Denver, CO

We got this collar from our vet after our greyhound had a leg infection. We had tried the E Collar before, but she was always able to get out it. With this collar, she was not able to get out it and could not reach her back leg to lick it. It is perfect!
