Robin Hill Terriers from New Jersey
Having to ship a puppy international, I found this crate to make the procedure very easy. The crate is already airline approved for international travel and comes with everything you need to fly your dog cargo. The plastic is sturdier than the normal Vari-Kennel and the door is also more substantial. I liked these so much I just ordered 2 more for my terriers here at home when we travel to shows.

Heading overseas and received our large sized crate in great time! Dog seems okay exploring it, and plenty roomy for his size. Appears to be designed for international travel and comfort. Helpful info inclosed.

I bought 2 of the SkyKennel #200 to fly my cats from California to North Carolina. The crates claimed to come with everything I would need to pass airline requirements. The airlines require metal fasteners; these came with plastic wing nuts. Also, the handle is not the best. As I said, I shipped cats: 17lbs and 14lbs respectively. The crate I shipped my 14lb cat in made it all the way through in perfect condition. The crate I shipped my 17lb cat in made it from California to North Carolina fine but the handle ripped out as the airline attendant was handing me the crate. The flight schedule for the cats had one stop-over. So, all told the crates with cats inside were moved at most 10 times before the handle ripped out of the top of the crate. Overall, I think the crates were great. I would just note that shipping animals over 14lbs might cause the handle to come off after a few moves when loaded.

I foster for a rescue group and this has been the best crate I have ever used. I have dealt with the worst cases of seperation anxiety and this is the only crate that has been able to withstand a 70lb crazy dog.

I purchased three of the large kennels for shipping six month old greyhounds. They came quickly and with everything needed to ship. They come equiped with four holes molded into the plastic around the doors to attach zip ties for further reinforcement of the door. The door on the large through XXlarge have a very good locking latch system. Although many brands of kennels claim to be airline approved most airlines will not accept a kennel with a plastic latch system used to assemble top and bottom kennels. Sky kennels come with the proper metal bolt attachments. They are easily cracked if dropped however, so care should be taken until they are assembled.

use one shown, medium size --as bird carrier and night cage (he ate the plastic window on the one he came home in); use it to take cats and rat terriers to vet; it also works as a holders while cleaning ferret cage, so as you can tell it is very handy and cleans easily used daily.

Just received the PetMate Sky Kennel, Medium Size (#200) and it is more than I hoped for. First, it is very roomy (it's for a large cat) and very well built; nice and sturdy. When closed the front door is quite secure. However, the unit I received does NOT match the picture that they show above! Actually, it looks nicer. The front door is more rounded than shown.
This kennel is to be used to "ship" my cat by airplane to the West Coast. The Sky Kennels are approved by Airlines for this purpose. Many kennels are not airline-approved, and they will not ship your pet if you try to use them! There is a BIG difference between "Shipping as Cargo" and bringing your pet on the plane with you! Be Aware!
I could not find a better price for the same or equivalent unit ANYWHERE Online. In fact, many places wanted much, much more. One place wanted almost $100, with S/H and Freight Charges!! Spend a few dollars more, and you'll get free shipping! ($49). If you need a top-quality, well built kennel/cage for your pet at a great price, check it out. (I'd also recommend "Dry Fur" padding if your pet will be inside for a long period of time.)

I have one of the old Pet Mate Kennels (the one in the photo) and that is not what you will receive. The new ones have an arched door, and simply DO NOT latch properly without a good deal of effort. It is easy for an excited dog to put both paws on the door and get out if both pins are not in the super-tiny and off center holes.

The metal door on the "new shape" vari kennel is terrible and it bent( post that goes in to the plastic) so the dog can just push it and walk out???????
Glad she was at home and not on a plane???????????

I have 2 Xlarge Deluxe Vari Kennels and my 2 year old APBT has found a way to escape from his crate through somehow turning the lock from inside just enough to where he can shove the door open while the pins are partially still in place.
If you have a dog that has escaped a crate before, please be cautious. It isn't escape proof.

Im moving back to the UK next year, and I got this crate to take my dog back in. Shes a Miniature Pinscher and much taller than she is wide. The one she had only allowed for 1 inch of head room and was the same size as the small Sky Kennel. The airline requires at least 2 inches, so I got the medium kennel. It has more than enough headroom but Ill need to pad it out a bit when she travels so shes not jostled about too much. Overall, very impressed with the crate, and the accessories provided with it are very useful. There are live animal stickers, 2 waterfood cups that fit securely, and Im confident that shell be okay in this kennel.

I breed and ship Labrador Retrievers all over the world and I exclusively use the Sky Kennel, it has extra ventilation on all four sides and is made extra tough for protection of your pet. The Large and Up come with a rotary lock and extra secure door that even the sneakest of dogs can not escape from. It is not more expensive, just better made.

I bought the Giant Sky Kennel Crate to take our yellow 110 Lb lab. to Sweden this past July. This Dog Crate is perfect to do International travelling with. The Airline SAS som we went over with said it is a very nice and secur crate and meet all the requirments TSA requires. Our Lab. was very comfortable and could stretch out. I would recommend this Sky Kennel crate for any one who is going to travel overseas. An the price is right.

Great all around kennel for shipping and showing. My portable grooming table fits perfectly in the holes on top. Very well made and my dog feels secure. Its also tall enough that I dont have a tuff time taking my Chihuahua out of the crate.

This is an excellent crate, for shipping animals as well as for them to sleep in at night. It is the only plastic crate from which my German Shepherd dogs have not been able to tear the doors off.

In the winter of 2007, I shipped a new field trial pup from my breeder in MN to my home in Erie, PA. Through a careful search of NorthWest Airlines website, it became quite obvious that NWA used the PetMate Sky Kennel to set its pet cargo prices, as the series numbers 100, 200, 300... used on the NWA website match the series numbers from PetMate EXACTLY. This crate is the best quality that I could find including construction materials and overall design. I would HIGHLY recommend this crate for anyone who needs to ship a dog via an airline!

I needed airline approved crates for transporting my dog and cat to Sweden. Everyone had been recommending VariKennels but they did not meet the 4 sided ventilation requirements that the airline told me about. The Sky Kennel by the same company (PetMate) does. They arrived fast (within a few days) with everything needed to meet airline regulations (food and water containers, all necessary stickers). This was also the best price I could find (online and in stores) after figuring in shipping charges. I'm totally thrilled with them and have recommended them in my blog (http://seblog.vannat.se). They are sturdy, easy to assemble, and ATA approved. Yay!

If you want to impress the air cargo people, your puppy and yourself...this is the one to buy. Came with everything you need and is VERY solid. This is the same cage Continental sells here for a good bit more money and the feeding tray is extra.
